Pagoda Tree (Bare Root)
Styphnolobium japonicum. This is a 40-65' shade tree with showy summer blooms that is quite tolerant of our dry, rough urban conditions would be beautiful as a specimen tree for the home landscape. Also known as Chinese Scholar Tree.
Features creamy-white fragrant flowers, borne in 6- to 12-inch pendulous panicles, that adorn the tree in late Summer. The twisted fruits, which resemble pea pods, are also unique: they start out green, turn to yellow and finally age to brown. Glossy olive-green branches and twigs add winter interest. This tree prefers well-drained soils and is tolerant of challenging urban conditions.
